چکیده

We present a formal system of free predicate logic based on three primitives: indefinite description (using a variant of the Hubert 'e'-symbol) and two notions of identity, one reflexive and the other nonreflexive. This logic is intended to be of practical use in mathematics. Sample applications are given in Sections 13 and 16. We assume an axiomatic development of the usual sentence logic. For the predicate logic we list two primitive formulas

Description Logic and Order-sorted Logic

I have been studying the following work on description logic, which is closely related to my main work on extensions of order-sorted logic and logic programming [4, 3, 2]. Title: Negation in Description Logics: Contraries, Contradictories and Subcontraries (under submission) Abstract: We propose an alternative description logic ALC∼ with classical negation and strong negation. In particular, we...

Negations in Description Logic – Contraries, Contradictories, and Subcontraries

In [10], several constructive description logics were proposed as intuitionistic variants of description logics, in which classical negation was replaced by strong negation as a component to treat negative atomic information. For conceptual representation, not only strong negation but also combining it with classical negation seems to be useful and necessary due to their respective features cor...

The Effects of Direct Corrective Feedback and Metalinguistic Explanation on EFL Learners’ Implicit and Explicit Knowledge of English Definite and Indefinite Articles

This study investigated the effects of two types of written feedback – direct corrective feedback (DCF) and metalinguistic explanation (ME) - on Iranian EFL learners’ implicit and explicit knowledge of English definite and indefinite articles. Assigned to three groups of DCF, ME, and control groups, the participants took four tests in three testing phases: pretest, posttest, and delayed posttes...

Probabilistic Quantifier Logic for General Intelligence: An Indefinite Probabilities Approach

Indefinite probabilities are a novel technique for quantifying uncertainty, which were created as part of the PLN (Probabilistic Logic Networks) logical inference engine, which is a key component of the Novamente Cognition Engine (NCE), an integrative AGI system. Previous papers have discussed the use of indefinite probabilities in the context of a variety of logical inference rules, but have o...
